In a moment of sheer inevitability, Bendigo’s first baby of 2025 was welcomed into the world this morning alongside a name that immediately set tongues wagging at the local Centrelink. Proud parents Shazza and Dazza Smith announced the arrival of Braxleigh-Kayden, a name they described as “unique, but also a nod to family tradition—if you count second cousins.”
“We wanted something timeless,” said Shazza while scrolling TikTok for middle names. “Braxleigh comes from ‘Braxton’ and ‘Leigh,’ which means… something. And Kayden sounds cool, aye?”
Hospital staff have already started a betting pool on Braxleigh-Kayden’s future sibling’s name, with front-runners including Jaymarlie-Kaiden and Shaqleigh-Danvers.
When asked about their hopes for their newborn, Dazza grinned. “We just want Braxleigh-Kayden to have a better life than us. Which is why we’re getting him an Instagram account tonight.”
Experts predict this year’s top names will feature more hyphens than ever before.
