Woman Marries Bendigo Fountain

Mike Elliott | Editor-in-chief by Mike Elliott | Editor-in-chief

in Bendigo News, Relationships

Last weekend Strathfieldsaye woman Kaley McBall became the first person to marry a fountain. It’s not just any fountain, it’s the famous Alexandra Fountain, a tourist attraction in the middle of Bendigo featured in hundreds, if not thousands of postcards, Tshirts and snow globes.

It was a full on $20,000 wedding ceremony that featured the usual white dress, three-layer wedding cake, bridesmaids and 85 guests, Kaley McBall said yes to the fountain as it was turned on.

The wedding was blessed by Bendigo Mayor Margaret O’Rourke.

About 5 protestors tried to disrupt the wedding saying “This is not marriage, this is a slippery slope. That’s why View Street’s so steep.”

Mrs McBall said “I found my soulmate in the middle of Bendigo. When it’s hot he cools me down. He’s my fountain of Youth.”
