Eaglehawk Family Actually Live in California Gully

A local family is reeling after discovering their home, believed to be in Eaglehawk, is technically located in California Gully.

The couple, who have lived in the same fibro weatherboard for 27 years, say they’ve raised four kids, hosted twelve barbies, and fought with three neighbours, all under the belief that they were true Eaglehawk locals.

Council records confirm the boundary line is the other side of the big bridge on the Eaglehawk side,” a revelation that has thrown the family’s identity into chaos.

Council spokesperson Denise Ritz said boundary confusion is common. “If your neighbour owns an eagle statue, it’s probably Eaglehawk. If they go for Collingwood, it’s one of the Gully’s.”

“We’re not ready to identify as Cal Gully people,” said mum Jaydeth. “It’s like finding out you’re adopted.”

The McFaddens are now considering legal action and have temporarily relocated to a mate’s place in Eaglehawk until they figure it out.

More to come.
