In a routine display of caffeine consumption, Golden Square resident Alexa Poton, 34, sat down this morning to enjoy a cup of coffee, a habit she has maintained for the past five years.
“I usually go for the medium latte,” Poton said, stirring the contents of her cup with a teaspoon. “It’s just, you know, something I do every morning. It’s a little bit warm and strong, but not too much. Just enough to wake me up.”
The coffee, purchased from a nearby café, was prepared by barista Jenny Matthews, who said she was “pretty sure” it was made just right. “It wasn’t anything special, but I did the usual thing—steamed milk, a shot of coffee, that’s it. I hope it’s what she wanted.”
Poton sipped her drink thoughtfully before nodding in approval. “It’s fine,” she added, though she couldn’t recall the last time she had anything less than “fine” from her regular café.
When asked for any thoughts on the coffee, Alexa continued, “I guess I could try something different, but honestly, I don’t see the point. I like what I like.”
As Poton moved on to her second sip, her day continued as expected—quietly, with minimal interruption, and a reasonable amount of caffeine.
