A Long Gully man has proudly showed off his new Southern Cross Station tattoo on his back.
Unveiled at a backyard BBQ on the weekend, Chooka Reid’s hyper-realistic tattoo showcases the iconic station’s steel beams and platforms 5 and 6 in jaw-dropping detail.
“It’s more than a transport hub,” Chooka told The Bendigo Standard. “It’s where my journey to and from Bendigo begins and ends. Spiritually.”
We asked Chooka what his other half thought about the ink. “My wife gets fined if she doesn’t tap on.”
When asked if he’d consider a full Public Transport Victoria sleeve, Chooka told The Bendigo Standard, “I already have Flinders Street Station pencilled in for next payday and the Bendigo Station booked for my birthday next month.”
Public reaction has been mixed.
“I respect the commitment,” said commuter Kylie Tran. “But I can almost smell the Boost Juice and hear someone loudly Facetiming their cousin about Centrelink.”
Southern Cross Station declined to comment, mainly because it’s a building.
