Great Scott! Rod Fyffe Cast As Doc Brown In Upcoming Back To The Future Remake

Bendigo’s own Rod Fyffe has been cast as the iconic mad scientist Doc Brown in the new Back To The Future reboot.

In 1985 the movie became an instant cult classic. It spawned two sequels, an animated series and games.

Rod Fyffe said he is proud as punch to take on such an iconic role “I’m proud as punch to take on such an iconic role.”

The movie will also feature Tom Holland as Marty McFly. Michael Cera and Emma Watson as Marty’s parents George and Loraine McFly, Josh Brolin as Biff and Emma Stone as Jennifer.

Universal Studios plans to remake the trilogy for today’s audience and give it a more Aussie feel.

Some of the minor changes will include:

  • Hill Valley replaced with Long Gully.
  • The DeLorean replaced with the iconic Holden Commodore.
  • In the first movie, Marty will accidentally get sent to 1990, 30 years into the past. Marty must make certain his teenage parents-to-be meet and fall in love – so he can get back to 2020.
  • In Part 2 Doc Brown and Marty travels to the year 2050 to discover the Napier Street roadworks are still not completed.
  • In Part 3 Marty returns to the year 2015 to stop Doc Brown from being killed by mosque protestors so he can prevent the Napier Street upgrade from happening. Their only way to return to the year 2020 is with help from an Elmore Miniature Railway train pushing their Holden Commodore time machine up to 88 mph.

The movies will be released annually from next year.
