It’s a known fact that Bendigo loves their roadworks so much in a supermodel or South Australian Firefighter Calendar kinda way.

But lately, it been more like a ’50 Shades’ scenario as the roadworks have created a tourist boom with visitors coming into town to use the road as punishment.

A spokesperson for the City Of Greater Bendigo said “We’re eventually going to redo the whole city. We really love our renovation shows. Wait until you see what we’ve got planned for the CBD again.”

People from the northern side of Bendigo have been most affected with Napier St and Murphy St under construction. Frank Cruze from Epsom said “It takes a good twenty minutes to get into town. I keep forgetting to go through Eaglehawk. If I go behind the golf course I get stuck at the Murphy St Roundabout upgrade. What’s the point of having a car?”

Francis Cook from Huntly said “When the Roadworks are done it will then be the Greater City Of Bendigo. But at the moment it’s just an OK City Of Bendigo.”
