Thousands of locals were unable to vote today after the Napier St road works caused a traffic jam.
People were driving through the road works on their way to voting locations when traffic came to a halt.
The stretch of road dubbed the 22nd wonder of the world, has been plagued with delays and has people wondering why it’s not finished yet.
Local fish and chips shop and butchers were on hand to provide food and water for stranded passengers. Their generosity was moving since the roadworks has been destroying their business.
People were unable to make it to polling stations by the 6pm deadline. Some people were overheard saying they’re voting for Bob The Builder who would be able to get the road finished in quarter of the time.
