Bendigo To Host Scooter Stealing In 2026 Commonwealth Games

Bendigo has been officially announced as the host of the Scooter Stealing event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Eaglehawk will take centre stage.

Teams will go down Eaglehawk Road and Victoria Street while a kid tries to steal the athletes’ scooter. Teams can earn bonus points by successfully shoplifting from Eaglehawk IGA.

Bendigo is well known as the sporting capital of Central Victoria. Mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf said Bendigo is very proud to host the event.

Commonwealth Games official Duncan Mono said he was excited about the new sport. “I’m excited about the new sport.”

Athlete Jakarta McButternut told The Bendigo Standard, “I’ve been training for this my entire life. I’m an avid scooter stealer, and you should see my collection.”

Tickets will be available in the car park of Eaglehawk IGA for the discounted price of 1 Durry.

Victoria 2026 will run from 17-29 March 2026, with four regional hubs in Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong and Gippsland to deliver a multi-city model that captures the hearts and minds of people across Victoria.
