Kangaroo Flat is set to get an exciting addition to the Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre. Bendigo council plans to build a wave pool as part of stage 4.
It will allow surfers to ride the waves without being anywhere near a beach. The man-made waves in the pool are created by Work For The Dole participants moving through the water on the side of the pool and creating breaks.
The Kangaroo Flat Pro will be held later on in the year with surfers from all over Australia taking part.
John Statesman, a spokesperson for the pool said “This is an exciting time for Kangaroo Flat. We can finally be seen as a poor mans Geelong.”
Work begins in February.
