Work has begun on the construction of Bendigo’s second mosque on Napier Street.

The Napier St mosque will be built on the median strip and the inside lanes of Napier Street near Weeroona Secondary College.

“We want to make this mosque accessible to the 70,000 drivers who use the road every day. Its a bit smaller than the other one being built in Rowena St but this one will have more parking” A City of Greater Bendigo spokesperson said.

“Everyone in Bendigo is so supportive of the new building. Can you believe it? not one protestor” The spokesperson said. “We’re so lucky to live in a city where everyone is so respectful of each other’s beliefs.”

Bendigo’s Islamic Community have thanked all those who have supported the project.
