Bendigo Council has come up with a genius solution to help fight Bendigo’s rental and accommodation crisis. The council announced it has made the Lake Weeroona Playground available for rent on Airbnb.

Renters will have premium access to walking paths and exercise equipment that doubles as a playground. The kitchen BBQ and amenities are a stone’s throw away but locked at night. The 3 story accommodation also features air conditioning and one of Central Victoria’s largest pools.

A council spokesperson said, “Bendigo’s accommodation crisis is at tipping point. This is only a start, we are looking at renting out other local icons including the Fountain, Rosalind Park and the Central Deborah Goldmine. Who wouldn’t want to stay there with Easter coming up?”

News of the rental addition swept through social media. One person responded asked, “Can I still do cones like in my last place?”

Another person replied with “So the Bendigo council would, like, be my landlord? lolz.”

“People in Melbourne or Sydney would pay millions for a place like that,” another said.
