In a world first, Bendigo’s beloved celebrity pig Mr Oinks has successfully survived a 10 hour marathon liver transplant operation.
When Mr Oinks’ liver failed shortly after Octoberfest, he was placed on a transplant wait list. Doctors discovered that his owner Harry Harrison from Marong was a suitable donor and stepped in to save Mr Oinks’ life.
Mr Harrison who works in the delicatessen at a local supermarket said “I would do anything for my best mate.”
Mr Harrison is now on the waiting list for a new liver for himself and prays that he will find one before Christmas.
